About Block Hand

Built by a Small Farmer. For Small Farmers.

Block Hand wasn't created in a boardroom or by a large software company.

It started on a small farm in New Zealand.

Like many lifestyle block and small farm owners, I found myself managing livestock, paddocks, treatments, jobs, expenses, grazing rotations and countless other tasks using notebooks, spreadsheets, whiteboards and memory. The bigger the block became, the harder it was to keep everything organised.

I looked for farm management software that would suit small farms and lifestyle blocks, but most systems were designed for large commercial operations. They were often expensive, complicated, and filled with features that did not match the reality of running a small property.

So I decided to build something better.

Block Hand was created to give small farmers the tools they actually need — simple, practical farm management software that helps keep track of animals, paddocks, jobs, treatments and farm records without the complexity of enterprise farming systems.

Would this make life easier on a real small farm?

That question guides every feature. Block Hand is actively shaped by real small-farm work: sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, gardens, orchards, grazing rotations, paddock jobs and the daily reality of trying to keep good records while still getting the work done.

Our goal is simple: to build the best farm management system for small farms and lifestyle blocks.

I'm Alby Redman, a small farmer from Northland, New Zealand. Block Hand began as a tool to manage my own block and is growing into a platform designed to help small farmers everywhere.
